Very Few Poets weave poetry on Father
-Jerry Rasquinha, Angelore

Namaste. I do not know this 'Namaste' has somehow nestled in my heart and I think it is a good word to greet anyone. Particularly foreigners who visit India greet Indians with this word but unfortunately Indians have forgetten this word of greeting. I understand what Sri. Hemacharya refers as 'ghannerem'.  From the time of Jesus local person doesn't recognise the talent of a local person.

The thirst and hunger for knowledge and art of enjoying literature is an essential vitrue a person must imbibe. After taking poetry seriously I don't know I am living in a quite different world. I very much remember the story you (Editor of Konkanipoetry) had written. Forgive me as my memory is bad I don't remember the title. That story was about the death of the father of the hero of the story. "babachea mornachi pett vhortana ruk-zaddam, kellmbe soythi maan bagovn ravle, punn mhaka somzalena."  I guess you got it. How beautifully written! What a poetic prose!

Most of the poets, writers, give a lot of prominence to 'mother'. I am not saying it should not be written. The irony is hardly few poets weave a poetry on 'Aan'.  A father is always forgotten.

Yesterday, I went through Sri. Andrew D'Cunha's poetry 'Volli'.  Very few kalakaars of konkani have hardly composed a song, written a story about the great 'Aan' (father).

As far as I know, the writing that explains the life style and culture becomes literature. Rest can be of whatever genre they belong to.

(Read Jerry Rasquinha's ''Diganthacher Durbinn" on Andrew D'Cunha's  'Volli' -Ed.)

Why Controversy over Wilson's Poem?

-Jerry Rasquinha, Angelore

Beauty is truth. Whether of an infant's innocent smile or of a woman's face and body, it has to be acknowledged. I have also noticed one thing in life that an artist is an all-rounder. It is like the present specialized doctors. We all are specializing in one field while attending and appreciating the others. Amar cha.fra.`s talent was diverse. A.T.Lobo has not only contributed to literature in the form of prose and drama but he has also composed songs.  "gavanth theren  mumbainth  varen"  is his composition. Similarly, my interests are many. Anything that is beautiful, has never failed to draw my attention. girls, breasts, long healthy legs, speaking eyes, the way their locks move etc etc. for me 'choli' (a young lass) is still a wonder. Cheddvanchi delicacy, thanchi chitla chaal, ityadi. For me woman is an absolute miracle. I don't understand why people are creating  controversy over wilson kateel's poetry "bajve bitorlo sownsor!".  For me 'woman is like Liab's konshi! How much you explore there is always something more. I wonder whether sthree is more bollvont than male after reading Dan Brown.

The things which have made me wonder and stare in awe are growth of the child in the womb, the birth of child. (I vote for Darwin rather that creation). I love children and everything on this planet. Bokddecha pilan thithlimch sobith dukrachim pilanyee sobith distaath, vell ghoddi dusri dusri asonk puro. ek dhosmi ful mhakaa phishar galonk sokta. Hanv kathkurlyecheri bezar pavana. kithayk thi ddongi korna. aplem roop koshem asa thoshecmch kuchilyo kortha. But like all sophisticated, cultured poets, I hate perverted thought.

Broken Hearts & Tortured Minds produce the Best Poetry
-Jerry Rasquinha, Angelore

I feel the best form of konkanni literature, 'poetry' is neglected. Since you have been blessed by the great poet of konkani kavita Amar Chafra, kavitaa.com is creating groundbreaking revolution in saving 'konkanni kavita'. It is the first of its kind.

I feel this present time is the best time to enjoy life. Leaving apart the violence that takes place on this lovely planet.  Digital world has made life worth living and enjoying to the best of its height. Where east meets west north meets south under one forum 'kavitaa.com' it is unimaginable that poets can hold great 'mehefils of great konkanni gazals'. The nasha runs through all our veins.

I applaud your battle to save 'konkanni poetry' (as well as your poetry zuz). This is the only way poets can meet under one "sathen". Too good. On the other hand now the disadvantages of getting on the web are thinning out. In Mangalore internet is available at Rs.10/ per hour. May be we all should try to inspire poets to hold 'bosnnis' in every nook and corners of the world, where two or three poets meet in the name of 'kavitha' the river of konkanni poetry should flow in full swell.

Honestly speaking, till late I was reading only my poetry. Dedicated reading of other poets on konkannipoetry.com is an essential virtue many need to imbibe. Of course great poets are always read. I have read chafra, you, Elyer, Wilson, Andrew, Kishu and goan poets and of course a little of english great poets.

I am ashamed of myself that I am also a person who only reads his own publications irrespective of the form.  (of course, if I had not read, khadap, Vasu, chafra, A.T.Lobo and many others I wouldn't be touching anything in konkanni today.) so, this bad habit, not at all reading other writers, unless and otherwise the poetry is very much recognised and gets an award, or there is a lot discussion in the media, should be overcome. No form of any literature can flourish if writers are not read.

Lately I have been seriously reading, Gopal Krishnna Adiga, Omar Khayyam, Kuvempu, KS Narasimha Swami of Mysore Mallige fame and poetry on kavitaa.com as well as all that are published in konkani papers.

I went through 'Amchi Hokal Bai'.  Congratulations to Jovita Reema Mathias, Belman. I also read 'jesuchen swargarohan' by renowned manest Austin D'souza Prabhu.  It is really interesting.

Modernism, or Post-Modernism might have appealed the writer to forget a few norms and conditions,
still as far as it is inspiring, thrilling, and intelligent and makes the reader wonder the game of emotions with words, it's absolutely welcome.

Poets, are not created unless they suffer the torments of the world. Broken hearts, tortured minds produce the best literature.  While pain and joy are reflected in words, literature and culture are preserved. It could be the voracious lust of Leo Tolstoy, or the down to earth difficulties of Charles Dickens, Amar Chafra,  Sirivonth, the end result is lovely literature. It might have made the poet, to hibernate, disappear, die a silent death or even live a silent death.

I have woke up after a long time.(please make a note that I am not comparing myself with the quoted artists. Might be I am torn between poverty and life, I am nowhere a comparison to them as far as the quality of literature is considered.) I am finding a new me, suddenly attracted by gorgeous beauty of poetry.

What I am trying to say is, forums like 'kavitaa.com' need to be understood by konkani mogis. Otherwise nothing will happen to preserve our mother tongue. This era is fourth wave. Digital. Lets make the best of it.

Dekun Kavitha rakon vorunk sangatha mellyam.

Dil Ne Kaha, Thoda Bhat Karlem

-Jerry  Rasquinha, Angelore

When blues of the mind inspire the heart my only resort is kavitaa.com.

Happened to go through Ms.Gwadalupe Dias' poetry "Dev khoim asa".  Our religion has made us carnivorous, drinking blood and eating flesh. Horrendous.  Simple truth is not understood.

Ms.Dias has put things very nicely, different from atheists. Our breeding into conditioned brains still makes us exclaim `oh my god!' unknowingly.

Since, you have provided us with a great forum we are encouraged to do some "chaniye seva" to konkanni. Technically this idea is wrong.

I have one hindrance. vocabulary. I am sort of a broiler chicken compared to noble people like you. We were city bred.

I want to learn konkanni vocabulary related to `sagolli' and everyday life.  Could you please suggest something.

You helped me with "khushali". We are performing under that banner.

dil ne kaha thoda bhat karlen, so did I.
